LA BONNETERIE DU PÉRIGORD 1948

Who are we?

Authentic 1948 is the reunion of four childhood friends, Christophe, Marc, Etienne and Jean-Christophe, a friendship that began over forty years ago with their connection to the Périgord in particular, and South-West France in general.
Our ambition today is to develop long-term economic activity in a region that we love by promoting short circuit production with local partnerships and implementing robust commitment to Made in France sustainability.

OUR STORY

It all started in 1948

It is interwoven with the French textile industry. The history of our know-how began in 1948, when a couple from Northern France, the Deltours, in love with the Dordogne, decided to buy an old flour mill there and transform it into a textile factory.

Nearly 75 years later, against the tide of the fast-fashion model, globalization and its relocation to Asia, the Middle East or North Africa, we are proud to have been able to save a traditional French hosiery workshop from insolvency and preserve unique industrial know-how in the Périgord: the jersey or fine ribbing of our T-shirts, piqué knit of our polo shirts, Richelieu ribbing of our tank tops, vintage fleece of our sweatshirts and hoodies, not to mention old openwork knits that so few workshops still know how to produce in France: Clichy, Desmo, Châtelet, Anthony, Pigalle, Elysée and other Bella Rib.

"With Authentique 1948, we want to offer, thanks to the know-how and commitment of our teams, sustainable Made in France fashion of premium quality and at reasonable prices."
